Minimum hardware requirements are as follows:

File Server Specifications
(<25 Users)
  • Pentium 4 Intel® Processor (1.8 Ghz Clock or better)
  • 10 GB hard drive 3
  • 1 GB MB RAM (minimum 1)
  • 100Mbps network interface card and 100Mbps network switch4
  • CD-ROM
  • Tape Backup System 2
  • Battery Backup Power Supply
  • Server O/S: Windows /2000/2003 or Novell® (Novell is not recommended, but possible)
File Server Specifications
(>25 Users)
  • Pentium 4 (or better) Intel® Processor (dual/multi processor system should be considered) (2.0 Ghz Clock or better)
  • 20 GB hard drive 3
  • 2 GB RAM (minimum 1)
  • 100Mbps network interface card and 100Mbps network switch4
  • CD-ROM
  • Tape Backup System 2
  • Battery Backup Power Supply
  • Server O/S: Windows /2000/2003 or Novell® (Novell is not recommended, but possible)
Workstation Specifications
  • Pentium 3 (or better) Intel® Processor (500 MHZ or better clock)
  • 128 K cache (or better)
  • 128 MB RAM (minimum 1) (256 MB or better recommended)
  • 100Mbps network interface card
  • O/S: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP®
Communications Server Specifications
Additional requirements for workstation:
  • High-Speed (128+Kbps or better) Internet Connection
  • Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection

Notes:

1 These are minimum requirements.  Additional RAM will improve overall system performance and should always be considered.

2 The size of the Backup System should be appropriate for the server in question in order to handle all files/data that require backup.

3 The size of the hard drive is based upon this server primarily being used for AOD and necessary O/S and driver files.  If running other applications or providing user file storage, a larger drive/multiple drives may be required. RAID and other fault-tolerant systems should be considered.

4 Serious consideration should be given to a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Card and switch for better performance.
